Strength & Conditioning for Cheer and Tumbling Athletes

Washington Strength & Conditioning

For over four years, WSC has been developing competitive cheer athletes right here in Washington, IL — including partnerships with Washington High School Competitive Cheer and the Washington JFL Cheer Organization.

Now we're bringing that same certified approach to Titanium Force, Jon Williams Tumbling, and Flyers.

Our coaches hold the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential — the gold standard in athletic performance coaching and the most widely held certification in NCAA weight rooms across the country. We don't guess. We build.

We are genuinely excited to work with cheer and tumbling athletes at this level. We do classes, semi private, and private training. We have something for every athlete so they can grow and develop properly.

Power Development & Total Athletic Development

Every skill in competitive cheer and tumbling starts with power — and power is trainable.

The landmine push press is one of many movements we use to develop the explosive strength that translates directly to the mat. But strength and conditioning develops far more than just power. It makes your athlete better across every physical dimension their sport demands.

Power Development:

  • Explosive lower and upper body power for higher jumps and sharper tumbling passes
  • Rate of force development — faster, more dynamic skill execution
  • Core stability and power transfer through stunts and tumbling
  • Stronger, more controlled landings and overhead loading

Total Athletic Development:

  • Increased speed, agility, and first step explosiveness
  • Improved body awareness and spatial control in the air
  • Greater endurance and work capacity through a full practice and competition
  • Stronger base athleticism that makes every skill easier to execute
  • Mental toughness and discipline built through progressive, structured training

Your athlete's skills are already there. We build the body underneath them.

Injury Prevention & Longevity

The athletes who compete longest aren't just the most talented — they're the most physically prepared.

NSCA research consistently shows that athletes in structured strength and conditioning programs experience significantly lower injury rates and maintain performance quality deeper into the season year after year.

Injury Prevention:

  • Improved landing mechanics that reduce ACL, ankle, and shoulder injury risk
  • Joint stability under repeated high-impact loading
  • Muscular balance that protects the body's most vulnerable areas
  • Physical resilience built to handle the demands of a full competitive season

Longevity:

  • Increased muscle mass and bone density that supports long-term athletic health
  • Faster recovery between practices, competitions, and skill repetitions
  • A physical foundation that extends athletic careers rather than shortening them
  • Consistent development that compounds season after season

You invest a lot in your athlete's cheer and tumbling career. Strength and conditioning is what protects that investment — and maximizes it.
